This collection documents the life and work of Hillel Bavli, Professor at the Jewish Theological Seminary from 1918-1961. The collection consists of correspondence, class notes, notecards, notebooks, writings, and published material. The letters were partially processed. The bulk of this collection is in Hebrew with some material in English. The collection also has a small number of items belonged to his wife, Rahela Bavli.
The Abraham Berliner Collection consists of correspondence to Berliner, a bound volume of 70th anniversary telegrams, as well as a document titled, "Protest of Professor Berliner against selling the Brescia Bible, 1494, to the Seminary Library."
The Albert Siegfried Bettelheim Papers consists of correspondence, manuscript sermons, clippings concerning Bettelheim's sermons, condolence letters, obituaries, and memorial articles. Also included is the death certificate of Itzik Meister, as well as miscellaneous material concerning the Bettelheim family, and correspondence and clippings concerning Bernard Bettelheim and Christian missionary trips to Japan.
The Elias Joseph Bickerman Papers consists of annotated typescripts of Jews in the Greek Age, various correspondence, notes, newspaper clippings, photos, and a Roll Book from the Jewish Theological Seminary.
The Board of Jewish Education of Greater New York Music Collection consists primarily of published music that once constituted the music library of this organization. In addition, there are unpublished music manuscripts, cantata texts, folders of song repertoire and some administrative papers and photo slides. These items appear to have been created, collected or used by staff members.
The collection consists of the incoming and outgoing correspondence of Gideon Brecher.
The Gerson D. Cohen Papers consists of correspondence concerning speaking engagements, as well as Cohen's work with Bnai Brith Youth Organization, Columbia University, the Institute on Ethics of JTSA, Camp Ramah, and the Rabbinical Assembly of America. Also included are bibliographies, manuscript reviews of books, and photographs of Cohen.
